The runs are organised by the Chandigarh Administration and are by runners for runners, to provide a great experience to all. Running is yet another reason why Chandigarh is a great tourist destination, and the Chandigarh Marathon is an ultimate reason to come to this picturesque city. We at Running And Living Infotainment are proud to be associated with this running experience. Our goal is to make this special for you.
Chandigarh is not called "The City Beautiful" for nothing.
Where else would you get to start from a Rock Garden and run via beautiful gardens, flat wide roads, past the Rose Garden, past a Lake, Two Governors’ Raj Bhawans, and through a Golf Course? Only in Chandigarh.
Run the prettiest City Marathon in India – start Running And Living in Chandigarh. Link up with our running groups across the country and make some new friends and excellent support groups on anything to do with running, to enable you to become a coach for others to get inspired and follow.
Experience the thrill of a
lifetime as you cross the finish line.
The course is flat, cold and well supported. The Full Marathon will remain open for 6:30 hours from 6:00 am with Sports Drinks, Water, Ambulance Care and the Chandigarh Traffic Police and our enthusiastic volunteer support.
An attractive medal, certificate with timing for each finisher of the Full and Half Marathons and a medal and certificate for each 5km finisher. Each finisher is a winner and we know how you feel. We are runners too!
Plan to be at the start (at the Rock Garden Parking area) at least 30 minutes before the start of your race.
The award ceremony will happen near the Rock Garden at 10:15am after the 5km race ends on the 31st of Jan. There will be some Full marathoners still finishing and they need to be cheered on by all of you. It is a grueling distance and every finisher is a special winner. |

| TIMING CHIP SYSTEM FAQ'S |
|
What is RFID Chip timing?
RFID Chip Technology
RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification This signal is interpreted by a control module and converted to a 20 digit code. This unique code identifies the transponder as well as whatever is attached to the transponder. The RFID Chip
RFID Chip is a miniature transponder in a specially designed plastic housing and can be used under all conditions (wet, dry, cold and hot).
Where do I get my chip, and where do I return it?
Your chip is supplied to you for the event, at the Chip timing counter located at the Chandigarh Running And Living Marathon Expo. Chips must be returned at the completion of the event at the finish line and you collect your refund of the Rs 200 security deposit
How do I wear the Chip?
You will be wearing a short plastic strip, containing the chip on your ankle of any leg. No chip, no time. Only runners wearing a RFID Chip will be timed. The reading distance of the RFID Chip System is limited. The antennas are embedded in the blue mats on the road, therefore the chips should be tied around the ankle as low as possible as shown in the picture.
How does the Chip work? |
All runners must ensure they run across the blue mats at the beginning of the race. Also at the end of the run - no matter how tired you are - CONTINUE TO RUN ACROSS ALL MATS. |
Can you explain Chip Time versus Gun Time?
Gun Time: The time from the sound of the starter's signal to the time when the runner crosses the finish line. Also known as the Official Time. Real Time, Chip Time: The time from when the runner crosses the starting mats at the start line, to the time when the runner crosses the finishing mats.
What are the advantages of Chip timing?
- Fast and accurate results at each event
- Net times: the RFID Chip can register every individual start time, even when participants are at the back of the pack.
- Split times
- Free flowing finish, no more restricted space at the finish
- Check points along the course
