The course The course for the Pune Half Marathon is tough and uphill in the first half - train well and run off road and on
uneven surfaces and do some downhill running which takes a toll on the knees and the quads, so practice well
and run slow on the downhill section. The uneven road surface can make it tricky too. Enjoy the monsoon run
and see the gorgeous water falls.

The half marathon starts at
the base of Sinhagad at the barrier and first goes downhill for 500m and takes a U turn and comes back to the
barrier and moves up. This gives participants a chance after a good warm up to warm up during the run after
which the next half of the run is uphill and strenuous
The 5k runners then go 2km uphill from the barrier, and turn back at the water point and finish at the barrier.
The 10k runners go 4.5km up to the next water point and then come downhill to finish at the barrier.
The half marathoners continue up to Sinhagad, run up the steps and then run to the Western Tip of Sinhagad
Fort to "Wind Point" which is where Tanaji came up and recaptured the fort from Aurangzeb with the help of
monitor lizards, and then return to the base.
Light breakfast followed by a slide show at the Heritage Hotel |

Running Safe on this cross country route
|
Running Safe on this uphill and tough route: You need to train on uphill and rough surfaces and
you will enjoy this run. Eye and body coordination is key, with reflexes especially where you run
downhill. If it is a little wet, be a little more careful. There is medical help which we all hope you will
never need. Enjoy the monsoon weather and the mist at the top of Sinhagad.
Half marathoners - especially the slower runners, should sip water at regular intervals as well as the
Sports drink along the way to ensure you don't dehydrate
